Nintendo Super Mario Maker TV Spot

With the Nintendo Super Mario Maker TV Spot, as a group of avid gamers, our Digital Domain Virtual Production team was tasked with pitching, shooting SimulCam on-set, and post-production on two 30 second commercials. The initial pitch phase involved creative director Neil Huxley using virtual reality to prototype the layout of the animation in order to achieve the scale necessary. Using a virtual camera and a Oculus VR headset, we were able to block and figure out how we would practically shoot a group of kids interacting with a life-size version the Mario Maker game.
