SXSW 2017: Games, Rendering & Future of Film
igital filmmaking has broken the once rigid boundaries of filmmaking disciplines and enabled interactive, immersive approaches that bring the real and the digital together on the set. As games and cinema converge, so too do the means of creation. Filmmakers are eyeing new mediums like VR with an eager curiosity, while continuing to innovate in the more traditional realms, like CGI. Gaming, with a long-established history in 3D, might just be the key to both. As we come together to understand new storytelling mediums, a new language, and with it, a new tool set must arise. Leaders from gaming and film production will discuss the latest trends and approaches guiding this new frontier.
This panel presentation took place in Austin, Texas at the SXSW 2017 as part of the Film & Interactive Festival along side panelists Larry Cutler (Baobab Studios), Kathleen Maher (Jon Peddie Research), and Adam Myhill (Unity Technologies).
